( Darlington Church is dry cleaned ! using the new patented Twister) |
Experts from Hydroblast washed away 150 years of paintwork and grime to help complete the renovation of a historic church in Darlington.
St John's Church on Neasham Road, Darlington was undergoing a full renovation when the Hyrdoblast team were called in to help.
Layer upon layer of paintwork on top of mortar made of lime and animal fat had to be completely stripped away before any decoration could be started.
Hyrdroblast used its own specially adapted paint and wallpaper stripper called The Twister to super-clean the walls. The specialist tool works at 500 bar pressure to blast away paint and wallpaper before carrying the debris away through a thick suction tube.
The Hyrdroblast system is much quicker than using chemical strippers and much more environmentally friendly. On this particular job the fact that all the debris was carried away meant the church could still function during the work and other renovation could be carried out at the same time.
The work was carried out in partnership with local architects Malcolm Cundick and De-Luxe Decorators of Middlesbrough.
